JOCKSTER

TECHNO

Swansea - Wales

Jockster is a 48 year old Techno DJ based in Swansea. He started DJing in 2001 & held various residences around South & West Wales. Including Refresh, Glitch and his own night 'Going Underground'. He's played alongside a wide range of DJs including Ilogik, The Tidy Boys, Dean Facer, Daniel Soto, Nick Rafferty, Steve Lee, Cally&Juice and John Kelly.

Starting out with trance and hard trance he played until 2006-where he stopped DJing to give up his room for the arrival of his first child. In 2016 he picked up the baton again-and launched his TechTonic podcast-a monthly podcast showcasing the very latest in techno. He describes his style as 'anything on the techno spectrum' and plays what he likes-rather than just floor fillers. Since launching TechTonic he's had support from artists like Sub Washer, Bilboni & Silvina Romero all of whom have praised the podcast.

Who inspired you to start DJ'ing?

"DJs like Jon Pleased Wimmin, John Kelly, Danny Rampling, Carl Cox-DJs I used to see back in the early to mid 90s. Ive always been swept up by Danny Tenaglia-basically the DJs that would mix it up and knew how to rock a club. Tenaglia takes you on journey across genres and I love that"

Artists that are doing it for you?

"Adam Beyer and his label  Drumcode is second to none. I respect the support he gives to up and coming producers and artists. Steve Lawler, Guy J, Henry Saiz, Pole Folder, Hernan Cattaneo, Sasha, John Digweed, Dave Clark, Slam, Pan Pot, Dubfire, Paul Kalkbrenner, Deep Dish, D Ramirez, & Carl Cox "

Most memorable experience

"Seeing Carl Cox for the first time in Naughty But Nice at the Crystal Rooms, Hereford. Paul Oakenfold & Brandon Block on the same bill at that club  too and right the way through to Slam at the Arches, 9 hour sets by Armin Van Buuren at Gods Kitchen & Steve Lawler on the terrace at Space with Layo & Bushwacka in the backroom doing a 6 hour set.
